Sonic antifouling

Sonic antifouling for optimal speed

When does nautical antifouling really count? When it’s all about the speed! Speed boats simply can’t surrender to invasive marine life – their hull must be kept in pristine condition to really allow the boat to reach its full potential!

No wonder that speed boat antifouling is more demanding than with other boats. With an ordinary boat, maybe even with a luxurious yacht, small growths of marine life on the hull can be neglected without any ill effects. Sure, they do some harm both to the performance and the health of the vessel, but the changes are minimal if the growth is not really out of control. With speed boats, there is no luxury of choice. Speed boat antifouling is absolutely critical for best performance of the boats that compete for microseconds.

It makes sense, then, to provide the speeding boat with the best antifouling solutions possible. There are several options to choose from, at least two of those are pretty popular – antifouling coatings and electronic, usually sonic antifouling. Both solutions are commonly used in a combination, even though modern electronic systems offer great results even without the use of special protective coatings. The hulls of speed boats are treated with various coatings for optimal hydrodynamics and maneuverability, so they can’t afford to lose these qualities with extra antifouling measures. Speed boat antifouling has to be done carefully and without any invasion of the meticulously prepared surface of the hull. The solution is sonic antifouling which offers great results without changing the characteristics of the boat. It works without interfering with the structure of the hull, all the effects are external. This system can be simply switched off when the boat is in use, then switched back on when it is stored without use for a longer time.
